About Me

How does a straight-haired girl become obsessed with curls?

Hi! I’m Andee and I’m a curl specialist. Here’s a bit of my backstory.

After barbering school, I worked in a mall where I began learning practical cutting skills. That’s where I was introduced to curly hair. In school, the topic of cutting curly hair was glossed over, and it was implied that straightening or blowing out was the best way to deal with, tame, and control the curls.

This didn’t make sense to me, and not knowing how to cut, wash, apply products, and/or style curly hair gave me a ton of anxiety. This led me to search the internet for answers and continuing education. In 2009, I took my first one-day Deva Curl class and was fully introduced to the possibilities of curly hair. I was completely and totally excited to finally have an understanding of being able to give curly people the cut and style they had been unable to get from traditional stylists. I learned that, for me, cutting curls dry, using only water-soluble products, educating my guests on how to best keep their hair healthy and how to recreate what I have done in the salon is what I’m all about.

I haven’t seen them all and I crush on all that I’ve seen. I’ve taken many many more classes in curly hair, and I’m always on the lookout for education that will help me to be able to give my guests what they need. The best part is that my learning will never end.

Curls are like fingerprints.
